Volunteer with Tetra

Tetra chapters comprise of a small group of volunteers, led by a coordinator.

We ask volunteers for up to 12 hours’ work per month. All out-of-pocket expenses, such as materials and mileage, are reimbursed. Volunteers do not have to be engineers, although most are.

And all technical skills are appreciated to ensure a good cross-section of skills.

Job description/responsibilities:

Participate in monthly volunteer meetings
Meet clients, in the presence of third-party member (friend, family member, caregiver, etc.), to discuss project requirements
Design and build an assistive device or adaptation solution based on identified requirements, within a pre-determined timeline
Follow safety guidelines established by Tetra
Make adjustments to assistive device as necessary, until both you and the client are satisfied with results and function
Provide documentation of project solution(s), providing detailed diagrams/photographs, wherever possible
Present project solutions and suggestions at volunteer meetings

Time commitment:

Because each request is unique, the time required for each project varies. Each project requires approximately 12+.hours/month.
